Meet Your Instructor, Dr. Carrie Schlachter

Dr. Carrie Schlachter is a pioneer in integrative sports medicine and rehabilitation therapies, with a mission to improve the lives of animals through innovative, science-based care. Her philosophy is simple: happy, healthy animals are less likely to get injured. She founded and designed the rehabilitation and fitness programs at Circle Oak Equine Sports Medicine and continues her pursuit of excellence through Animals in Motion (AIM), located at Chicken Foot Ranch in Penngrove, CA. AIM serves as a hub for cutting-edge veterinary care, education, and sanctuary for animals in need. Dr. Carrie is a board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and an official FEI delegate for jumpers. She has contributed her expertise to the ACVSMR Examination Committee and the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Scientific Review and Editorial Committee. A passionate educator, Dr. Carrie teaches globally for Equinology and its affiliates, as well as lectures on topics including sports medicine, rehabilitation, and digital diagnostic imaging. She is also a co-founder of the Academy of Animal Sport Science, an institution offering an equine rehabilitation certificate program for licensed professionals and veterinarians, alongside her partners, Dr. Nicole Rombach and Debranne Patillo. Beyond clinical practice, AIM is expanding its offerings to include specialized programs for canine rehabilitation, equine behavior, and owner education, as well as innovative rehabilitation therapies. The AIM Education division provides online and onsite courses for professionals and animal owners, furthering Dr. Carrie’s commitment to empowering others with knowledge. Dr. Carrie’s work at AIM is complemented by her dedication to the Rooster Run Foundation, a nonprofit she supports through her veterinary expertise, providing sanctuary for over 200 rescued animals. Whether through cutting-edge veterinary care, teaching, or her nonprofit work, Dr. Carrie remains steadfast in her mission to improve animal health and well-being.
